NATE POWELL BIO
Hi there, I'm Nate. I was born in 1978 in Little Rock, Arkansas, where my family still lives. I started drawing comics when I was 11 years old, and began publishing them at age 14. In the 1990's, I self published the zine The Schwa Sound, the comics Conditions, Frankenbones, and Wonderful Broken Thing; from 2000-02 I published the Walkie Talkie series.
Since 1996 I've lived in Washington DC, New York City (where I went to School of Visual Arts), Kansas City MO, East Lansing MI, western Massachusetts, Providence RI, and since January 2004 I've called Bloomington, IN home. Since 1999 I've worked full-time for adults with developmental disabilities. I also make music, jump around, pace a lot, and generally resemble a bird.
In the last few years I've released Tiny Giants and It Disappears on Soft Skull Press, Sounds of Your Name on Microcosm Publishing, and Please Release on Top Shelf Productions, as well as contributing to the Meathaus and Syncopated anthologies. I'm currently whipping up my next graphic novel, Wormwood, due in 2008 on Top Shelf.
I like mornings.
